Met newly discovered family, visited ancestral ground. Serendipity brought me here. A fine lass she is, saren; blessed me with many a discovery. Your page is brilliant, your recipes look delicious. Can’t wait to try a few.

En hjertelig takk

Hi Debra! Thanks for your message and sharing some of your story! It’s wonderful you have such a deep connection to Norway and that you continue to pass down traditions, while branching out as well. Best of luck with your blog – sharing your experiences and thoughts in written form is a great way to connect with people all over 🙂

I am so drawn to your blog. My heart is always longing for Norway. I spent many summers there as a child on my grandparents farm. My best childhood memories are the freedom the evoked of being able to roam and explore. I have been fortunate to bring my 3 kids back several times. My family is from Lyngdal, Lista and Fevik, but Lyngdal is my “home”. My dad is the only one in his family that left Norway and my mom also has many relatives there.
I found your blog while searching for Norwegian recipes for Jul. My mom will always prepare a traditional Norwegian meal, which was cod fish. I always enjoyed it, but the next generation, not so much. Anyway, we’re trying to branch out after 40 to 50 years of the pretty similar and basic meal. Of course there is risgrot and all the Christmas cookies you have in your holiday cookbook.
I’m hoping to head back to Norway this summer. I have started my own blog called deliberateescape, com I hope to start writing more and incorporate family history and traditions along the way. I’m just getting started after retiring from a career as a nurse.
My heart has always been in Norway. I hope I’m able to continue that journey as time goes on. But…I will enjoy reading your blog and feeling a little envious of your journey, but only in a good way!!
Your blog is beautiful. I am enjoying it so much!!
